WHAT DOES THE CITY OF TORONTO NEED TO DO TO ADDRESS ISSUES RELATING TO FOOD IN OUR CITY?

Recognize how addressing these issues will aid with others; being able to afford food regularly means one doesn't have to choose between paying for a roof or food. Being able to have access to food allows children to pay more attention and have more energy when in school.

Freedom to grow our own food

Reducing the miles that our food has to travel - people can grown their own food on a balcony, roof or in a garden

Community kitchens, gardens, food forests, gatherings to eat together at all times of the day

Harvest rain water to water during droughts. Teach people how to harness and collect rainwater, and how to collect seeds. Seeds are life.

Allow for urban and community gardens. Fund programs that support these. Fund delivery programs that aid in providing access to food for those who may be unable to get it themselves otherwise (e.g., seniors, those with disabilities).
